Step back in time to learn how Bletchley Park, a country estate, was secretly chosen to be a wartime base and the urgent preparations increasing the peacetime workforce of around 150 required in order to cope with the huge codebreaking task that was coming.   the extraordinary achievements of the women and men who worked there.

Discover who was working at Bletchley Park on the outbreak of the war and find some famous names on the “Emergency List” of men and women considered to work there.  You will find incredibly rare first-hand accounts and photos that give an insight into the 1938 evacuation to Bletchley Park, and the early days of World War II there, including actual codebreaking work.

Historic maps show how Bletchley Park was perfectly placed to become the secret war station – a secluded countryside estate, close to transport and telecommunication links to London and the rest of the UK.
