We depart our local pick up points in the morning and make our way to the port city and naval base on England’s south coast, Portsmouth.  Nicknamed “Pompey,” Portsmouth is mostly spread across Portsea Island, a flat, low-lying island measuring 9 square miles in area.  Spend the day exploring Portsmouth’s maritime heritage and Historic Dockyard.  The dockyard in home to the interactive National Museum of the Royal Navy, the wooden warship HMS Victory, where Nelson died in the Battle of Trafalgar, and HMS Warrier 1860.  The Tudor ship Mary Rose is also conserved in a dockyard museum.
